Parent Support through Young Minds
Young Minds is a national organisation which provides information and support to young people and their parents/carers on how to look after themselves. Their website is a great resource to find information around what to do if you’re worried about a young person’s mental health and what you can do to help them. You can also find support for yourself and useful information through different sections of their website:
- The Parents Survival Guide offers useful tips around you and your child, your child and looking after yourself
- The Parents Lounge offers monthly sessions where Young Minds staff hold live Facebook videos and answer any questions parents might have around young people’s mental health and what they can do around different topics
- The Parents Helpline is a free support line (available Mon-Fri from 9:30am to 4pm on 0808 802 5544) where you can call and speak to a member of staff from Young Minds who will offer confidential advice around any concerns you may have for a young person.
- The #Take20 Parents’ Hub gives information on how by taking 20 minutes with children and young people to do an activity you’ll both enjoy, you can create a relaxed space to start conversations around how they’re feeling.
