Body Image
Body image is the way we each see our own bodies. This can often be influenced by the things we see and hear around us and we can often compare our own body image to the standards set by society. In 2018 The Mental Health Foundation found that 30% of all adults have felt so stressed by body image and appearance that they felt overwhelmed or unable to cope, that’s almost 1 in every 3 people. Body image issues can affect all of us at any age and directly impact our mental health. That’s why it is so important to have a positive body image and tackle the standards set by society and access support if you feel that it is starting to affect your mental health.
It can be hard not to always think negatively about your body when this often seems to be the norm around us when the people we know can often compare their bodies to those that they see on Instagram, Facebook, in magazines, on the TV or any other media and our bodies don’t look like this. However, it is always important to remember that our bodies are perfect the way they are and the bodies we often compare ourselves to have access to expensive procedures and editing tools for their photos.
