Access Free Online Counselling in Sunderland through Kooth

What is Kooth?

Kooth is a digital mental health support service. It gives children and young people easy access to an online community of peers and a team of experienced counsellors. Through Kooth you can avoid some of the typical barriers to support: no waiting lists, no thresholds, no cost and you can  be completely anonymous. Launched in 2004 by XenZone and accredited by the BACP, more than 1,500 children and young people across the country login to Kooth every day.

Kooth is now available in Sunderland after being commissioned by Together for Children and Sunderland Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). The service provides children and young people aged 11-18 who live in Sunderland with free, online, anonymous support for their mental health and well-being.

What can I access through Kooth?

The service can help you to access one-to-one chats with a qualified counsellor. Counsellors are available from 12-noon until 10pm on weekdays and from 6pm until 10pm on weekends. Kooth can also help you to:

  • Read self-help articles written by young people
  • Get support from the Kooth Community through online forums
  • Write a daily journal

The forums address issues ranging from exam stress to self-harm. If you are a young person in Sunderland you can to use the service from a mobile, tablet or desktop whenever you need support.
