Change Starts With Us – Anti-Bullying Week 2019

What is Anti-Bullying Week?

Anti-Bullying Week is an annual campaign coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance which this year takes place between Monday 11th and Friday 15th November 2019. This year’s theme is; ‘Change Starts With Us’ and aims to:

Small change. Big difference.

Whether it is verbal, physical, online or in-person, bullying has a significant impact on a child’s life well in to adulthood. By making small, simple changes, we can break this cycle and create a safe environment for everyone. Because together, we can challenge bullying. Change starts with a conversation. It starts with checking in. It starts with work together.

Change starts here.
Change starts now.
Change starts with us.

This year the goal is to inform schools and settings, children and young people, parents and carers to know that it takes a collective responsibility to stop bullying. We are excited for this campaign as we want to create empowering, positive messages addressing the fact that when it comes to bullying CHANGE STARTS WITH US!

If you are unsure of what the definition of bullying is, then click here to find out from the Anti-Bullying Alliance.

However bullying does not only happen among young people, many people experience bullying in their workplaces and adults, as well as young people, can experience cyber bullying. Bullying comes in many different forms and can happen to anyone.

Where to get support around bullying

Young people (or their parents) can get support around bullying either online from websites such as; Anti-Bullying AllianceBullying UK and NHS Choices or young people can also get telephone support from Childline around bullying and the effects it has.

Adults can get support from ACAS if they are being bullied in the workplace either by accessing useful information on ACAS‘ website or by contacting ACAS on: 0300 123 1100 for support. For emotional support around bullying and the effects it has, adults can contact the Samaritans.
