Information to help parents and carers understand the new, free safe to play campaign
- Have you seen the news reports recently about children and young people being abused in sport?
- Do you worry if children are safe from abuse when attending sports clubs and activities?
- Would you know what questions to ask to check if it is safe at the club or activities they attend?
- Have you been given or seen any Safeguarding Policies?
- Can you be sure your children are safe and protected?
- Do you know what to do if you suspected abuse was taking place and want to find out more?
The NWG Network and South Tyneside Safeguarding Children and Adults Partnership (STSCAP) announce the launch of the SAFE TO PLAY CAMPAIGN which will help improve the safety of children playing sport, participating in dance, drama or other activities that they attend outside of school.
What is Safe to Play?
Safe to Play is:
- Free interactive cards which give information via mobile phones and tablets
- Designed to help parents and carers ask the right questions which will develop safer environments for children taking part in sport and activities
- To help promote positive safeguarding messages to parents and carers and encourage them to ask the important questions before they let their children attend activities.
The credit card sized resources will be available at selected sports clubs and providers following the launch. FREE Bystander training will follow on from this later in the year.
