Following discussions with LGBTQIA+ youth, we’ve developed a dedicated Frequently Asked Questions section focusing on LGBTQIA+ topics and concerns. This resource is designed to help young individuals, their families, friends, and professionals find answers to common questions about the LGBTQIA+ community.

Language is fluid and changes over time! Different people can also use the same term differently. The best thing is to educate yourself on terms and concepts. To do this, you can visit our A-Z terms list which contains a list of terms, services, and acronyms (word formed from the initial letters of a name or combining initial letters of a series of word) you may hear or see in the LGBTQIA+ community.

It is best to respectfully ask rather than guessing an individual’s pronouns. You could ask the person “What pronouns do you identify with?” or “What gender pronouns do you use?”. It is important to respect a person’s self-identification. Individuals might use female pronouns, male pronouns, gender-neutral pronouns, or a mix of pronouns.
