The Local Youth Fund
With £10,000 available and up to £500 per project, young people have an exciting opportunity to bid for projects and activities that matter to them in their local area.
The Local Youth Fund – Round 2 is open from Wednesday 5th January 2022 and welcomes applications from young people across Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, supported by a youth or community organisation.
Kim McGuinness, the Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner wants young people to think about what matters to them in their local communities. Through the Local Youth Fund, young people, supported by a youth or community based organisation, will have the opportunity to apply for funding that will have a direct benefit for them and/or the communities they live in.
This is part of the Violence Reduction Unit’s work to ensure Northumbria is a place where individuals, families and communities thrive, making the most of opportunities to live, learn and work free from the fear of violence.
We are offering small grants, up to £500, with the following criteria:
- To be young person led
- To have a clear benefit for young people and/or the community they live in.
- To show a sustainable element, e.g. young people trying a new sport, attending training, learning a new skill, creating a positive message campaign to share with other young people.
The application process:
- The application form should be completed by the young person or group applying for funding with the support of a youth or community organisation.
- Please submit a supporting video to evidence why the young person or group are applying for funding.
- Completed applications must be received by 12pm on Wednesday 2nd February 2022, incomplete and late applications will not be considered.
If successful, funds will be paid to the youth or community organisation supporting the bid. For this reason we can only accept applications supported by organisations that are:
- Registered charities.
- Charitable incorporated organisations.
- Community interest companies.
- Constituted voluntary and community sector organisations or groups that have a minimum of 3 management committee members.
